Seamfox ('we', 'us', 'our') operates a specialist professional platform for the global commodities industry, connecting members and employers across Agriculture, Metals, Oil & Gas, Renewables, and Maritime & Shipping. Seamfox is licensed and operates from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and serves users globally.
Seamfox is committed to handling your personal data responsibly and transparently. We are working to align our data practices with applicable frameworks including the UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on Personal Data Protection and GDPR principles where relevant to our global users. As our platform develops, we will continue to strengthen our data protection practices and update this Policy accordingly.
In this Policy, a 'Member' is an individual who uses the Platform to find work or to make their professional profile discoverable to employers. An 'Employer' is an individual or organisation that uses the Platform to advertise roles and identify candidates. The 'Platform' means the Seamfox website, applications, and related services. Seamfox is free to use for both Members and Employers.
Data We Collect
2.1 From Members
When you register and use the Platform as a member, we collect the following categories of personal data:

2.2 From Employers
When an employer registers and uses Seamfox, we collect:
- Company name, registration details, and industry vertical
- Contact details of the authorised representative (name, email, phone)
- Job posting content and candidate interaction data
- Platform usage data and login records
How We Use Your Data
We process your personal data for the following purposes, each supported by a lawful basis:
- To create, verify, and manage your Seamfox account — Contractual necessity
- To display your profile to employers when you apply for a role or make your profile discoverable — Consent / Contractual necessity
- To parse and reformat your uploaded CV using AI tools into the Seamfox profile format — Consent (provided at registration)
- To match your profile with relevant job listings and employer searches, Legitimate interest / Consent
- To deliver news, insights, commodity price data, articles published by Seamfox, and games content — Legitimate interest
- To operate the Trailblazers leaderboard and games engagement features, Legitimate interest
- To operate the Nexus community forum, including member posts, comments, and shared photos — Legitimate interest / Consent
- To send platform notifications and, with your consent, marketing communications, Consent
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms and Conditions, Legal obligation / Legitimate interest
- To improve and develop the Platform through aggregated, anonymised analytics, Legitimate interest

AI Processing of Your CV
5.1 What We Do
When you upload a CV to Seamfox, it is processed by an artificial intelligence system, specifically the Anthropic Claude API, to parse, extract, and reformat your professional information into the Seamfox standardised profile template. This includes extracting your work history, skills, qualifications, and career data.
5.2 Your Consent
By uploading a CV and agreeing to this Privacy Policy, you provide explicit, informed consent to this AI processing. You may withdraw consent at any time by deleting your CV from the Platform. Data already parsed and stored in your profile will remain until you request full account deletion.
5.3 Anthropic as a Sub-Processor
Anthropic, Inc. (USA) acts as a data sub-processor for the limited and specific purpose of CV parsing. CV data transmitted for processing is subject to Anthropic's data processing commitments. Seamfox maintains appropriate contractual protections with Anthropic consistent with applicable data protection law. All processed data is returned to and stored on Seamfox's own systems only.
5.4 Human Review & Editing
As part of the AI formatting process, personal contact information, including home addresses, personal email addresses, and phone numbers, is automatically removed from your CV before it is stored in your profile or shared with any employer. Only professional career information is retained. AI-parsed profile data may also be reviewed by Seamfox staff for quality assurance. You may review, correct, and update any AI-parsed data within your profile at any time through your account settings.
5.5 Automated Decision-Making
Seamfox does not make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you using solely automated means. The AI processing described above is limited to parsing and reformatting your CV; it does not determine whether you are hired, shortlisted, or considered for a role. Recruitment decisions are made by Employers, and any review of your profile is carried out by people rather than by an automated system acting alone.
How We Share Your Data
6.1 With Employers, Candidates
By uploading your CV and creating a profile on Seamfox, you grant Seamfox permission to share your profile information with employers for the purpose of job matching. All profiles are shared without personal contact details, your contact number, email address, and home address are never visible to employers.
CV Visibility Controls: You are in full control of whether your CV is made available to employers. Within your account settings, you may set your CV to one of the following:
- Visible, your CV may be viewed and downloaded by employers searching the platform
- Hidden, your CV is not visible to employers in general search. Employers may still contact you through the platform and request access to your CV, which you may choose to approve or decline at your discretion.
Regardless of your CV visibility setting, your full profile details and CV are always shared with an employer when you actively apply for one of their roles. You may update your CV visibility preference at any time from your account settings.
Assisted Search, Member Consent: Where a Seamfox recruiter identifies you as a suitable candidate for a specific role through the Assisted Search service, Seamfox will contact you directly to discuss the role before sharing your profile or CV with the relevant employer. Your profile and CV will only be presented to that employer after you have been given full details of the role and have explicitly confirmed your consent to proceed. You are under no obligation to consent and may decline at any time without affecting your membership or your standing on the platform. Seamfox will never present your profile to an employer under the Assisted Search service without your prior knowledge and approval.
6.2 AI Parsing & Reformatting
By uploading a CV to Seamfox, you explicitly consent to the following data processing:
- AI Parsing: Your CV will be processed using artificial intelligence tools, including the Anthropic Claude API, to extract, categorise, and structure your CV data into the Seamfox standardised profile format. This enables enhanced search and filtering for employers.
- Reformatting: Seamfox may reformat or enhance the visual presentation of your CV to align with our platform's professional standards. The core factual content of your CV will remain unchanged. Such formatting is intended solely to improve clarity and presentation.
You may withdraw consent to AI processing and proceed with full account deletion.
6.3 With Candidate Profiles, Employers
Employers access candidate profile data strictly for recruitment purposes as governed by their Employer Terms and Conditions. Employers are contractually prohibited from using candidate data for any non-recruitment purpose.
6.4 Within the Nexus Community Forum
Nexus is the Seamfox community forum, where Members can publish posts, add comments, and share photos and images. Any content you post in Nexus, including your name and profile information shown alongside it, is visible to other Members of the Platform and is not private. You are responsible for the content you share and should not post sensitive personal information or anything you do not wish other Members to see. You may delete your own posts and comments at any time, though copies may remain in backups or in others' quoted replies for a limited period.
6.5 With Technology Service Providers
We use trusted third-party service providers to operate the Platform, including cloud hosting, analytics, and AI processing services (including Anthropic). These providers act as data processors, bound by contract to process data only as instructed by Seamfox and to maintain appropriate security standards.
6.6 Legal Requirements
We may disclose personal data if required by law, regulation, court order, or lawful request from public authorities in the UAE or other applicable jurisdictions.
6.7 We Do Not Sell Your Data
Seamfox does not sell, rent, or otherwise commercially transfer your personal data to third parties for their own marketing or commercial purposes. Your data is used only for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
Data Retention
- Active account data is retained for the duration of your membership
- Upon account deletion, personal data is deleted or anonymised within 90 days, except where retention is required by applicable law or for dispute resolution
- CV files are deleted within 30 days of confirmed account deletion
- Salary data is deleted promptly upon account deletion
- Anonymised, aggregated analytics data may be retained indefinitely as it no longer identifies individuals
- Employer job posting data and hiring records are retained for three (3) years for dispute resolution purposes
Data Security
Seamfox implements appropriate technical and organisational security measures to protect all personal data against unauthorised access, loss, destruction, alteration, or disclosure. These measures include encryption of data in transit and at rest, role-based access controls, regular security assessments, and ongoing staff training on data handling obligations.
In the event of a personal data breach that poses a high risk to your rights and freedoms, Seamfox will notify affected users and relevant regulatory authorities in accordance with applicable law and within required timeframes.
No electronic system is 100% secure. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your own account credentials.
International Data Transfers
Seamfox operates from Dubai, UAE, and serves users globally. Your data may be processed in countries outside your country of residence, including the UAE and countries where our technology providers operate including the United States, where Anthropic is headquartered.
Where data is transferred internationally, Seamfox ensures appropriate safeguards are in place, including contractual protections with service providers consistent with applicable data protection requirements including the UAE Personal Data Protection Law, GDPR (for EU/EEA residents), and other applicable regional laws. By using the Platform, you consent to international transfer of your data as described.
Your Rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data. To exercise any right, contact support@seamfox.com. We will respond within 30 days and may require identity verification before processing your request.
- Right of Access, Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Right to Rectification, Correct inaccurate or incomplete data through your account settings or by contacting us
- Right to Erasure, Request deletion of your personal data, subject to our legal retention obligations
- Right to Restrict Processing, Request limitation on how we use your data in certain circumstances
- Right to Data Portability, Request your data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format
- Right to Object, Object to processing based on legitimate interests, including for direct marketing
- Right to Lodge a Complaint, Submit a complaint to the relevant data protection authority in your jurisdiction or to the UAE data protection authority
Cookies & Tracking Technologies
Seamfox uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to operate the Platform, remember user preferences, analyse usage patterns, and improve your experience. By using the Platform, you consent to our use of cookies in accordance with this policy.
You may manage cookie preferences through your browser settings. Disabling certain cookies may affect the functionality of the Platform.
Children's Privacy
The Platform is not directed at individuals under 18 years of age. Seamfox does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected data from a minor, we will delete it promptly.
Marketing Communications
Where you have provided your consent at registration, Seamfox may send you marketing communications including newsletters, platform updates, industry news, and promotional offers. Your consent to marketing communications is separate from and in addition to your consent to receive essential service-related notifications, which are necessary for the operation of your account.
You may withdraw your consent to marketing communications at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any marketing email, or by updating your communication preferences in your account settings. Withdrawal of marketing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal, and will not affect your ability to use the Platform.
Third-Party Links & Social Channels
The Seamfox Platform may contain links to third-party websites, news sources, and employer websites. News items shown on the Seamfox News page are aggregated from external third-party providers through their APIs; when you open a news item, you are redirected to the original publisher's website, which is governed by that publisher's own privacy policy. These third-party sites have their own privacy policies and Seamfox is not responsible for their content or privacy practices. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third-party websites you visit.
Seamfox may operate a WhatsApp Channel for the purpose of delivering commodity market updates and platform news to subscribers. The WhatsApp Channel is operated through WhatsApp, Inc., and your use of it is subject to WhatsApp's own terms and privacy policy. Seamfox does not collect or store your personal data through the WhatsApp Channel beyond what is necessary to send channel updates. You may unsubscribe from the WhatsApp Channel at any time.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
Seamfox may update this Privacy Policy at any time. The revised effective date will be indicated at the top of this document. It is your responsibility to review this Policy periodically. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Policy.
For material changes that significantly affect how we process your data, Seamfox will endeavour to provide additional notice via the Platform or email where practical. However, we do not guarantee notification of all changes.
